How do I join the Association?

By going to our Join Us page and submitting an application for membership. All applications must be accompanied by a one-off non refundable application fee. All applications are considered by our Executive.

Does the Association provide Industry Training Courses?

Yes, the association provides courses such as the Introduction To Solid Fuel Heating Course – accreditation certificate and Solid Fuel Appliance Installation Technician (SFAIT) – installers certificate.

What is an Accreditation Certificate?

The introduction course is designed for everyone involved in the solid fuel heating industry. It is a must for all sales people, manufacturers, retailers, installers, and chimney sweeps.

The course covers environmental issues, description and sizing, installation, operation and maintenance of solid fuel appliances.  One day courses are held throughout New Zealand and the timetable can be obtained from NZHHA office on 04 473 6011 or info@homeheat.co.nz or see the “members” page.

What is a SFAIT certificate?

On completion of the SFAIT course, the applicant will be classified as a Solid Fuel Appliance Installation Technician. The applicant must first attend the Introduction Course and have a proven record of solid fuel appliance installations before attendance at the SFAIT course is accepted.
